On the 26th of April 2022, AZTI’s sampling team successfully carried out the recovery of three SoundTrap ST300 HF hydrophones (manufactured by Ocean InstrumentsNZ)!
The hydrophones have been acquiring underwater noise data since 16 March, i.e. 42 days of recording. The sampling rate was set to 10 minutes every hour, with a sampling rate of 96 kHz. The aim of this campaign was to monitor the underwater noise generated from the Mutriku wave power plant and thus advance in the knowledge of the potential environmental impact of this pressure on species sensitive to underwater noise.
Stay tuned for the results of this campaign and others carried out for this descriptor in Spain, France and Portugal around different wave energy harnessing devices.
In the meantime, here are some images of the sampling stations and hydrophones.
